The Film Review of Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite movies during British and American movies. Now, I want to talk about my impressions of the movie. About the author
Jane Austen,a British novelist in the 19th century, who's one of the most influential woman writers in the history of world literature. Her most famous worksare \"Pride and Prejudice\" and \"Sense and Sensibility\". Her works mainly focus on the marriage and life of squire family women, depicting her little world around her truly with the female peculiar meticulous observation and lively and interesting words. After she moved toChawton,her famous works include three parts: Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion. Two previous published successively, only \"Persuasion\" was finished in 1816, because the authorwasn’t satisfied with the end of the original, and decided to rewrite, so it wasn’t published. The film told a love story that happened at a small village of the England. The hero of the story is Darcy, the heroine is Elizabeth.
At a ball, Darcy met Elizabeth firstly. Darcy’s arrogance made Elizabeth produce prejudice and dislike him.He emerged the feeling of love for lively Elizabeth increasingly after touching her for many times, while Elizabeth’s prejudice was further deep with some misunderstanding.
At Easter, they met again. Darcy’s love got out of controlfor Elizabeth and proposed to her, but he was refused firmly by her because of his proud attitude and her prejudice, which made him realize it is necessary to change the attitude of pride and leave a letter to explain the misunderstanding with her.
In the second year of the summer, Elizabeth saw Darcy’s change and a new side in Pembury Manor and their mistake was disappeared gradually.At the time, Lydia, Elizabeth’s sister, eloped with Wickham who had a big gambling debt, which nearly lead to the shame of the whole family and made Elizabeth be embarrassedand thought Darcy would be more look down upon her. However, for Darcy, this is a good chance to express his love to Elizabeth. When Darcy heard the news, he found ways to solve the problem for her. He not only paid off a gambling debt for Wickham, but also gave him a small fortune and made him get married with Lydia.
In the end, when she knew truly that Darcy was so excellent a young gentleman,Elizabeth’s heart was moved. Since then, Elizabeth’sall prejudice of Darcy before became sincere love. Main characters
Darcy is one of my favorite characters. He was born in a rich family and had a high status in society. When he appeared firstly in this film, he was so arrogant that gave a bad impression to Elizabeth. However, he realized bad results with pride and became modest due to Elizabeth’s refuse for many times. Although Elizabeth is distant to him, he insisted to express his love to her and won her response finally. In my opinion, he was indifferent, but was kind and polite to others, and love family. The most important thing is that he wasn’t respond to heterosexual love, which left a good impression on me. In fact, this also is considered as one of the reasons anda good quality for many girls to select someone like him as the half.
Elizabeth is also one of my favorite characters. She came from a poor family in a village. She lived with snobbish mother, indifferent father and impolite sisters, but she was a beautiful, smart, courageous, rational and thinking girl. She was prejudiced and disgusted with Darcybecause
Darcy’s pride and Wickham told tales. Later, they met again. Then Darcy’s proposal was refused and he was painful and left a letter.After she saw the letter, she was guilty and ashamed of her action. In the second year of the summer, she saw Darcy’s different side in Pembury Manor andtheir mistake was disappeared gradually. Finally, they got married. Her prejudice gave me a deep impression, which caused she refused Darcy more than once. This makes me know that everyone isn’t perfect and could get well generally. In addition, we couldn’t deny someone completely according to external phenomenon. Comments
There are my views about love and marriage as following.
Firstly, Charlotte married Collins and their life was rich, but no true love between them was sorrowful. From here we can see that money could meet our basic material needs, but it couldn’t give us love and happiness. Of course, money is essential for us to live in daily life, so no money is absolutely impossible. And everybody should choose a marriage based on true love.
Secondly, Darcy and Elizabeth, one of them is arrogant, another is prejudiced. Fortunately, they finally married after going through a series of setbacks. Thus it can be seen that we should learn humility and look at somebody or something from all sides. Besides, we also ought to stick to pursue our lovers, even refused, and believe your sense and judgement.
Thirdly, the movie mainly told us that pride and prejudice block love between Darcy and Elizabeth. Similarly, pride and prejudice could exist in us with others around us in daily life. So we should try to understand others’ action in your first contact and treat others fully from all different sides, which could make you got a lover or a friend.
Last but not least, the nonsense marriage is existed between Lydia and Wickham. When Lydia married Wickham, she was only 15 years old and her family gave Wickham a whole bunch of money. She is too young to marry in the eyes of elders and shoulder the responsibility of caring for family during her daily life. Meanwhile, this is irresponsible action for herself, so it is not inadvisable. What’s more, we are supposed to marry at appropriate age with right someone.
