摘要：A method of transmitting a context identifier of header compression on a datapacket connection in a telecommunications system, in which the context identifier can betransmitted either as part of a compressed data packet or in the header of a data packetto be transmitted at the convergence protocol layer of the telecommunications system.The transmission method of the context identifier is selected by comparing the spaceavailable in the header of the convergence protocol layer data packets with the numberof context identifiers defined for the compression method, and attaching the contextidentifiers to the headers of the convergence protocol layer data packets or to acompressed data packet, depending on whether the space available in the header of theconvergence protocol layer data packets is larger or smaller than the number of contextidentifiers defined for the compression method.
