the Insight after Reading
In the past two weeks, I have read the third part of Frankenstein. Most of this part is the monster's self-report. After reading it, I am thinking about two questions. What would I do if I didn’t have the past. What would I do if I get squeezed everywhere? Now let me briefly introduce the content of the third part.
After Justine's death, Frankenstein was immersed in great sadness and regret. He hates monsters for killing his family, and he regrets that he created the monsters. When he was determined to hone himself to avenge the monster, he met the monster again. The monster told him about his experience.
After leaving Frankenstein, he learned to recognize the birds, insets, plants and trees. While feeling the beauty of nature, he was also ostracized by humans. Then he met a family and kept observing them secretly. He yearns for the love of his companions and the warmth of his family. But after mustering up the courage, he was pushed out again. After being attacked again, he was determined to find Frankenstein. He ran into Frankenstein’s brother by chance on the road. He once again placed his hopes on this beautiful child, but was squeezed out again. He killed his brother and blamed Justine. After talking about his own experience, he hopes Frankenstein can be held accountable to him. He also longed for the love of his companions, he was too lonely. He asked Frankenstein to create a companion for him.
In the monster's private prosecution, I felt the ugliness of human nature.
Human beings always act on the basis of first impressions, and are always skeptical of the unknown. In addition, I think Frankenstein's behavior is common now. Not to mention abandoning an ugly monster, many people nowadays cannot be responsible for their pets for various reasons. At present, many pets are abandoned in China. Human beings should be responsible for their actions.
I think it is very sad for people without the past. They don't know where they are from or where they are going. Without experience, they cannot resonate emotionally with others. Survive in the world like walking corpses. People are social animals. Due to physical and psychological reasons, humans need the company of their companions. Even ugly-looking monster will long for love. But not only did he not get love, he was always hurt. Whether an angel or a demon depends on the attitude of others. It makes me feel sympathy for the monster.
This part reminds us of a social phenomenon that people always judge others by their appearance. Beautiful people are always easily recognized and appreciated by others, while ugly people are always handicapped. In this book, only the blind old man can accept this monster. We should think about this issue carefully. Have we missed many interesting souls because of our appearance. Good looking skins are all the same, but interesting souls are one in a million.
I propose that we be more tolerant of others and pour love and hope into the world.
